Blue Fish Stencil

I was out for a morning ride. The first rain ride of the fall. The light was diffused and the clouds close. This blue stencil fish on diamond plate drain caught my eye.

First Cold Weekend Pilgrimage to Rivendell Bike Works

Posted in Uncategorized on October 17, 2008 by thefrenchbikecult

When the weather turns cold, it is time to make the ride to Rivendell Bicycle Works to look over the wool and lugs vibe. When you live in the same town as Rivendell, it is better than living in Portland! I rode the Ital down to the shop, and spoke to Mark about the new (at least to me) the Bombadil a trail cruzer. I also spotted the revamped bull moose bars with the nice sweep. The Crackberry helped satisfy my bar fettish.

Commute by Colnago

Posted in Uncategorized on October 17, 2008 by thefrenchbikecult

On the non-court days I commute to work on “The Iron Horse Trail.” The commute is about 40 min. Commuting on the Colnago is a real treat. It makes nice furniture, and I can look at it while I suffer the bordom of all that is the legallawyerattorneyworld. On the way it is a perfect meditation tool for gaining insight on the day. At day’s end it is perfect for forgetting about the hassels.

The Kills- And Brewing Sencha

Posted in Tea, Uncategorized on September 27, 2008 by thefrenchbikecult

“I checked the water and the water was hot.” Obviously a reference to Sencha. This is my favorite Green Tea song, by the Kills titled THE GOOD ONES.

My fetish for the minimal attracts me to the kills. I mean they do a lot with a drum machine, a guitar, two mikes, and boots. The fact that this is on French TV also scores Kudos!

I love when Alison Mosshart chain smokes, and in this vid Jamie Hince looks like he is dressed up in some get up from the original Star Trek. His face gives off that green glow.  It’s 180 Degrees at much more than 3 minutes!

Is too much green tea possible?

Jim’s Surly Long Haul Trucker

Posted in Uncategorized on September 27, 2008 by thefrenchbikecult

I have this good friend his name is Jim, and he is a long haul trucker. When he wants to go light he has a custom Englis, but when it comes to touring he says the long haul trucker is the best bang for the buck. I met him the other day for lunch and he rode over from the Napa Valley. His LHT is dope! He uses Ortlieb Panniers, and has a special set up for the front bag with two stems. The LHT steerer tube was never cut, so there was lots of room for experimentation, and the mounting of accessories.
