Jade Cloud From Rishi Tea

Posted in Tea on September 28, 2008 by thefrenchbikecult

Had my first infusion of Jade Cloud, and sucessive brews though out the day. I felt like I was in the “natural forests of pine and bamboo.” Plus it is USDA organic, and Fair Trade Certified! I love this tea.

Here is my set up. And the early morning in my garden after watering.

The Kills- And Brewing Sencha

Posted in Tea, Uncategorized on September 27, 2008 by thefrenchbikecult

“I checked the water and the water was hot.” Obviously a reference to Sencha. This is my favorite Green Tea song, by the Kills titled THE GOOD ONES.

My fetish for the minimal attracts me to the kills. I mean they do a lot with a drum machine, a guitar, two mikes, and boots. The fact that this is on French TV also scores Kudos!

I love when Alison Mosshart chain smokes, and in this vid Jamie Hince looks like he is dressed up in some get up from the original Star Trek. His face gives off that green glow.  It’s 180 Degrees at much more than 3 minutes!

Is too much green tea possible?

Jim’s Surly Long Haul Trucker

Posted in Uncategorized on September 27, 2008 by thefrenchbikecult

I have this good friend his name is Jim, and he is a long haul trucker. When he wants to go light he has a custom Englis, but when it comes to touring he says the long haul trucker is the best bang for the buck. I met him the other day for lunch and he rode over from the Napa Valley. His LHT is dope! He uses Ortlieb Panniers, and has a special set up for the front bag with two stems. The LHT steerer tube was never cut, so there was lots of room for experimentation, and the mounting of accessories.

Fall in Berkeley Hills

Posted in Hiking on September 27, 2008 by thefrenchbikecult

Fall is a great time in the San Francisco Bay Area for hiking. Last Saturday was no exception as the kids and I went up Grizzly Peak and took off on a fire trail. We ended up above the UC campus and the view of the bay was awesome. About 2 pm the fog rolled in and I snapped this with my CrackBerry.

Caught Up in the Mix Joe Henderson in Japan

Posted in Jazz with tags , on September 14, 2008 by thefrenchbikecult

Tonight, I am just siting here catching Joe Henderson in Japan. What a piece of work. It is Jazz History. The recording date was the August 4, 1971.  Joe Henderson goes to Japan and plays with some local cats. The electric piano by this guy named Hideo Ichikawa is mesmerizing, not to mention Henderson piloting the sax in Junk Blues, and Blue Bossa.  In the liner notes it states in relevant part: According to jazz historian Bill Kirchner, Joe Henderson in Japan “is one of the handful of records from the late Sixties and early Seventies to be studied like a textbook by the most advanced young musicians. It’s that kind of a record.” So true, My Brother.

Classic City Bike with Honjo Fenders

Nothing catches my eye like the urban city bike. Not the ubiquitous Trek, but the off beat. This Raleigh was locked up outside the 655 Washington Courthouse by the racks last week. It has a lot of cool parts, like Honjos, 4 speed Sturmey-Archer hub, and funkadelic decals. I was late for court after I spotted this set up, and thanks to the Crackberry got some pics.
